Renowned for working with some of the world’s best known artists, Angela Yarwood, managing director of Devon based Brook Gallery, launches Brook Contemporary from 1 October 2016. The sister company will provide art consultancy services for the corporate market across a range of art disciplines, with a core of exceptional, nationally acclaimed West Country talent– a unique portfolio of artists not seen together before. Clients of the new venture will also be able to access Brook Gallery’s own extensive collection of Fine Art, as well as benefit from their strong relationships with the largest network of artists, agents and publishers.
The Brook Gallery opened in Budleigh Salterton 20 years ago and its foundation of bringing exceptional art to its clients remains at its core. The launch of Brook Contemporary recognises the general growth of outsourcing services, allowing companies to focus on their core strengths. Brook Contemporary will offer services in purchasing and renting art for a variety of corporate spaces, including receptions, offices and boardrooms, as well as hospitality locations such as restaurants and bars. Brook Contemporary will also source personal fine art collections and manage private contemporary commissions. In contrast to Brook Gallery which sells works on paper and original prints with a collectors’ portfolio, Brook Contemporary will feature works from acclaimed artists in the West country, such as Anthony Frost, Heidi Koenig, Simon Ripley, Sara Bor, Ashley Hanson, Rebecca Gouldson, Martin Procter, Vanessa Gardiner, Henrietta Dubrey, Mary Mabbut, Stephen Jacobson and Gina Parr.
Angela Yarwood’s decision to expand into this new venture reflects her passion and integrity in providing art to fit with a client’s ethos, environment and budget. Angela says: “Brook as a brand, encapsulates a constant striving and dedication to show the best. Brook Contemporary will be an extension of all these qualities. Brook Contemporary will be based in a new showroom in Budleigh, close to Brook Gallery. We will work closely with our corporate clients to ensure that the art they choose for their space is inspiring to staff and commensurate with their client offer. The pieces will be beautifully framed and ready to hang. While efficiency and ease of doing business is key, as a small company we provide a bespoke and personal service. It is this tailored approach that has won us many clients and substantial repeat business across the UK.”
The decision to widen their services comes at a time when Angela recognises that corporate clients need this support to ensure the art they purchase is an appropriate aesthetic and financial investment. Angela, who will lead on the consultancy side, will provide an evolving selection of appropriate work on a rental agreement or as a purchase.
Angela adds: “Studies have shown that art in the workspace can have a number of benefits, including enhanced creativity and productivity, reduced stress, as well as increased morale and expression of opinions. Our services cater for a broad range of locations and venues, aiming to provide the best Fine Art to enhance your working environment, whilst importantly differentiating you from your competition.”
The decision to open the new office in Budleigh stems from Angela’s insistence that both businesses mutually benefit from the experience and influence of the Brook brand. “Budleigh is the spiritual home of the Brook. Our aim was always to provide an art centre and resource not seen before in East Devon. Brook Contemporary gives us the opportunity to take what is great about our original gallery, broaden its repertoire and reach across the UK. As a business, we continue to evolve and it is the most natural step to share our expertise with a wider client base. The Brook remains resolute in its ability to provide exceptional customer service whilst attracting the work of some of the best and most acclaimed artists in the UK today.”
